Q - What are the main features of third generation computers?
1. Electronic Components - ICs are introduced as the main electronic component in this generation of computers.
2. Input system - Here the keyboard is used as the input device.
3. Output system - The system of the monitor starts as an output device
4. Shape - They were much smaller in size than the first and second generation s so they could be carried.
5. Cold heat control - In this case also the room with cold heat control was needed.
6. Programming Language - The C language is introduced here as the language of the program.
7. Speed - This generation of computers could do calculations in micro seconds.
8. Magnetic disks were used to store storage data.
9. Maintenance - Its maintenance cost was much less as the mechanical disturbances were less than the previous generations.
Q - What are the main features of the fourth generation computer?
1. Electronic Components - The main components of this generation of computer were LSI and VLSI.
2. Input system - Keyboard and mouse were used as input devices.
3. Size - Computers are small in size so they can be easily carried from one place to another.
4. Speed- This generation of computers work in microseconds.
5. Output system - Monitors, printers, sound systems, etc. were used as output devices.
6. Programming Language- This generation started using Fourth Generation Language (4GL).
7. Cold heat control - Teacher control was not required.
8. Maintenance - Due to the use of high quality technology, mechanical disturbances were much less in this case, so maintenance was not usually required very much.
9. Multitasking and multi-user system - This generation of computers to start many tasks simultaneously. This allows multiple users to control their activities at once.
